Applications are invited from eligible Male and Female candidates for the Constable & Sub Inspector post in Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF). Applications complete in all respects must be submitted ONLINE ONLY.


Post - Constable (Exe.) & Sub Inspector

Pay Level in 7th CPC - Level-3 & 6

Initial pay (₹) - 21,700/- & 35,400/- 

Medical Standard - B-1 

Age (as on 01-07-2024)* - 18 – 28 years & 20-28 years

Total Vacancies (All RRBs) - 4208 Constable & 452 Sub Inspector.


Minimum Educational Qualification

Constable  : 10th Pass or Equivalent from recognised Board 

Sub Inspector : Graduate from a recognized university.

Candidates must have successfully passed the 10th class or its equivalent from a recognized educational board for Constable positions. This foundational educational requirement ensures that all entrants have a solid, essential educational background, which is crucial for their operational responsibilities. For sub-inspector roles, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.


Selection Process

The selection process for the RPF (Railway Protection Force) typically consists of several stages to ensure the recruitment of eligible and qualified candidates. All stages to be conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). The selection process may include the following stages:

Phase 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)- The initial stage of the selection process is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that assesses candidates' knowledge in subjects such as General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning.

Phase 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)- Candidates who qualify for the CBT are then required to undergo a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). The PET includes physical tasks such as running, long jump, and high jump. The standards for PET may vary based on the gender of the candidate.

Phase 3: Physical Measurement Test (PMT)- Candidates who clear the PET are subjected to a Physical Measurement Test to ensure that they meet the prescribed physical standards.

Phase 4: Document Verification- After clearing the PET and PMT, candidates need to provide the necessary documents to verify their eligibility, which typically includes educational certificates, identity proof, and other relevant documents.


Examination Fee

For all candidates (except categories mentioned below at Sl. No. 2) Out of this fee of 500/-, an amount of 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT : ₹500/-

2 For candidates who belong to SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Minorities or Economically Backward Class (EBC). This fee of ₹250/-shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT : ₹250/


Age Limit

For Constables, the age limit is set between 18 and 25 years as of January 1, 2024. 

For Sub-Inspectors, candidates should be between 20 and 25 years as of January 1, 2024. 

These age requirements ensure that the candidates are mature enough to handle the responsibilities of their respective roles while being youthful enough to meet the job’s physical demands. Closing date for Submission of Application - 14-05-2024 (23.59 hours)

Dates for Modification window for corrections in application form with payment of modification fee (Please Note: Details filled in ‘Create an Account’ form cannot be modified) - 15-05-2024 to 24-05-2024 .


How To Apply

During the ONLINE APPLICATION, candidates will be asked to Create an Account. 

If a candidate has already created an Account for earlier notifications published by RRBs during the year 2024, they should use same account credentials to log in and apply for this CEN as well (i.e., CEN No. RPF 02/2024). 

If the candidates have not created an Account so far, they must first ‘Create an Account’ before proceeding to fill up the application for this CEN. 

Candidates are advised to fill in the details required for account creation with utmost care, as corrections of any kind will NOT be permitted once the account is created. 

Details filled in the ’Create an Account’ form (including mobile number and Email ID) cannot be modified at any stage, once the account is created.
